Create and manage assessments

Assessments are customizable forms made to replace ad hoc vendor questionnaires and manual due diligence with standardized workflows. Assessments centralize responses and evidence collection directly within 1Password SaaS Manager, instead of relying on spreadsheets or emails. Completed assessments provide a permanent, searchable record of due diligence and risk analysis.

You can create new assessments from scratch, from templates, or reuse existing assessments. Templates can only be created or modified by superadmins.

Create an assessment

From your SaaS Manager dashboard, select Assessments to create a new assessment.

To create a new assessment without a template, select New then select Blank. Enter a name and select what the assessment is about: an application, a vendor, or a person. Optionally add a description and/or cover photo. When you’re finished, select Create. A blank assessment page will open.

The Questions column offers options for content sections and assessment elements. Drag and drop Questions or Content elements to structure your assessment as needed.

Hover over an added element to view options for editing, reordering, copying, or deleting the element. Elements can also be reordered by dragging and dropping them within the assessment using the button.

Each assessment element has fields you can customize. Rename, restructure, define formatting, add notes or default answers, and more. Most elements also have an "Advanced options" menu you can expand for additional customization.

To see a top-level view of the assessment organization, select the Structure tab.

Send an assessment

When you’re done creating your assessment, select Send

From here, select which application the assessment applies to, assign a respondent and approver, and select a due date. You can optionally add a message for respondents.

To send the assessment to multiple respondents:

  1. From the Applications page, navigate to the appropriate application and select multiple users from the application user list.
  2. Select the three dots from the menu next to the number of selected users, then select New assessment and choose the existing assessment or template you want to send.
  3. Assign an approver.
  4. Optionally, add a due date and or message for assignees.
  5. Select Send.

Assessment respondees will receive email notifications informing them that they’ve been assigned an assessment.

Manage assessments

Notifications for assessment assignees are sent by email by default. From the email, the assignee must select the “View assessment” link to open and complete the assigned assessment.

To change notification settings for assignees, navigate to the Settings page then select Notifications. Toggle the options for email and Slack on or off as needed.

From the Assessments page, you can view Responses or Assessments. Filter responses by respondent, status, subject, or template. Select All filters to see all options.
